Retro games and hardware

Scud Race restoration continues..

I think I have just as much fun working on arcade machines as I do playing them. I also think I’ve been luck with this machine in that so far I have found nothing that I cant either replace or improve. Now that the cab is fully working I have moved to smartening it up.

New T-Moulding fitted

New T-Moulding

The new t-moulding was from eBay, it was a bit of a pain to fit as the groove was routed at least 2mm wider than the new plastic was intended for. Plenty of hot glue fixed that though.

Vinyl Replacement

The top sections of the side art were very scratched and pitted. The solid red was easy to replace with a new sheet from vinyldepot on eBay.

Scud Race 100% working!

The force feedback system is working now after installing a new “drive board”. Even with the motor set to the lowest setting, the feedback is very strong and feels great when drifting and colliding.

This board is also used in Sega Rally 2 and Daytona USA 2, and a few other model 3 games but with a different EPROM for each game.

Still working on the cab, should have plenty of photos up soon.

New Arcade machine, good old sega fun!

My end of summer project. Sega Scud Race arcade machine. Almost fully working.

Just needs a bit of attention and a new feedback drive board.

More info later.
